Hastings Branch library opened
February 17, 1959 - the last branch library opened in Pasadena.
In the mid-1960s it was expanded (the northern section and entrance and
north-eastern parking lot were added).
Hastings Branch library has the largest circulation of any branch
library - over 210,000 items per year. It has a collection of
over 64,000 items. It has the most visitors of any branch library
- around 120,000 visits per year. In 2002-2003 over 13,900
children attended children's programs.
The library is immediately
adjacent to the north of our neighborhood and has long served not only
as an information source but as a meeting and polling place.
Hastings Library Associates
- New organization to plan and
provision
programs for this library branch which are consistent with the needs
and desires of the local community – basically 91107 zip code.
- To raise funds for those
programs using the non-profit corporation umbrella of Friends of the
Pasadena Library.
- Meetings are at 6:30 pm
on
the third Wednesday of most months. They last at most 1 hour. Anyone
interested may attend.
- In early 2007, the Hastings
Associates are working on sponsoring some neat new furniture for the
children's area.
